Cycling route to Ondrasovske Rocks
Do you love stunning views of nature and the surrounding landscape? Then you should definitely visit Ondrasovske Rocks and admire Turiec from this viewpoint. This trip is also ideal by bike, with up to two route options. The rocks with the viewpoint aren’t very high, and the path to them is relatively easy.
From the Woodpark chalets, the cycling route heads toward Slovianska dolina, gradually ascending through gentle forest trails until reaching the village of Kláštor pod Znievom. Here, cyclists can visit the historic monastery and church, which date back to the Middle Ages.
On the way from Kláštor pod Znievom, cyclists will encounter two fascinating attractions – the Megabike and the Gardeon Megabench. These giant art installations are perfect spots for a short rest and photo break. The Megabike is a massive bicycle model symbolizing the locals’ passion for cycling, while the Megabench offers a comfortable place to sit and enjoy views, for example, of Zniev Castle.
After a short rest, the route continues, and you can choose between two options:
Forest logging trail to Ondrasovske Rocks – This section is more challenging, with steeper climbs. This is also where the official cycling route ends.
Route above the village of Ondrašová – This path goes through meadows and along local hills. Once you reach above Ondrašová, you need to turn into the valley and continue along the road all the way to Ondrasovske Rocks.
Ondrasovske Rocks, situated at 812 meters above sea level, offer breathtaking panoramic views of the Kriváň section of the Malá Fatra, the main ridge of Veľká Fatra with peaks such as Lysec, Tlstá, Ostrá, Drienok, Ostredok, and Krížna, as well as the Kremnica Mountains and Žiar to the south. From the viewpoint, you can also see Blatnica Castle and Sklabiňa Castle. A bench is built on the rock, perfect for enjoying the views and observing nature. This spot is also ideal for photographing stunning landscapes.
For the return journey, we recommend riding back to the village of Kláštor pod Znievom, then passing through the village of Ležiachov and continuing to Benice, from where you turn toward Valča.
