Cycling Route Gaderská dolina and Čertová brána 49 km
The cycling tour from Valčianska dolina to Gaderská dolina is ideal for families with children, as the route is not steep. Most of the trail is nearly flat, making it suitable for less experienced cyclists. Gentle climbs appear only in Gaderská dolina, but even these are manageable for all ages.
Your journey begins in the beautiful Valčianska dolina at the Woodpark chalets. From there, follow a gently descending road to the village of Valča, then continue toward Rakovo.
The route continues along a marked cycling path, passing by the Turiec River. Continue to the village of Karlová, and from there directly to Blatnica, located at the foot of the Tlstá and Ostrá peaks.
From Blatnica, the route takes you into one of the most beautiful valleys of Veľká Fatra – Gaderská dolina. This valley is suitable for almost everyone who wants to enjoy outdoor sports, hiking, and beautiful nature without tackling difficult terrain. Children, seniors, cyclists, and families with strollers can all navigate the valley, as the entire route follows a well-maintained asphalt road.
The entrance to the valley is marked by a large wooden gate with the inscription Gaderská dolina. After about 2 km, you will reach Mlynčekovo, a new attraction that delights both children and adults. Located roughly halfway to Čertová brána, this charming rest area was created by local retirees along the babbling Gaderský stream and is considered one of the most beautifully crafted resting spots in Slovakia. From here, it’s about 4 km more to reach Čertová brána.
Čertova brána in Gaderská dolina is a narrow rock pass and one of the most striking and interesting natural formations in the area. Located roughly in the middle of the valley, it forms a natural stone “gateway” through which the hiking and cycling trail continues into the heart of Veľká Fatra.
The gate is formed by two tall rock walls that nearly touch, creating a narrow passage that feels like entering another world.
After returning from Gaderská dolina, head back to Blatnica and turn toward the village of Folkušová. This section of the route passes along the Veľká Fatra mountains, offering stunning views of Blatnica Castle. Above the castle rises the Tlstá peak, the dominant feature of the area. Along the way, you can enjoy panoramic views of the vast Turiec Basin, with the Malá Fatra mountains in the background.
From Folkušová, continue to the village of Ďanová, where you can take a break by the local pond. From Ďanová, head directly back to the Woodpark chalets, completing your cycling tour.
