Cycling Route to Skalky Peak 44 km
If you enjoy a mix of mountain biking, stunning views, and peaceful nature, the cycling route from Valčianska dolina to Skalky Peak in Malá Fatra is an ideal choice. The route takes you through the beautiful Turiec countryside, past dense forests, open meadows with panoramic views, and up to the ridge of Malá Fatra. Cyclists will enjoy a pleasant mix of asphalt roads and challenging forest trails, perfect for mountain biking enthusiasts.
Your tour begins in Valčianska dolina at the Woodpark chalets. The first part of the route follows an asphalt road, comfortable and suitable for all types of bicycles. This section leads to the Zraz crossroads, where you can take a short break and gather energy for the more challenging climb ahead.
From the Zraz crossroads, the route leaves the asphalt and continues with a steeper climb along a forest logging trail. This section takes you to the next crossroads, Pod Úplazom. The forest climb is rewarded with the beauty of the surrounding woodland.
From the Pod Úplazom crossroads, the route turns toward Janková Peak (1,162 m), where views of the surrounding nature begin to open up. The climb remains challenging, but the scenery that gradually unfolds makes every effort worthwhile. After reaching Janková, the trail eases slightly, allowing cyclists to enjoy riding along the ridge.
After ascending to the Malá Fatra ridge, you reach one of the most beautiful sections of the tour: Skalky Peak (1,192 m), located on the main ridge of Lúčanská Malá Fatra. The route passes through open meadows with stunning views of Veľká Fatra, the Turiec Basin, and in the distance, the majestic Kľak Peak, which accompanies you along the way.

After a rest, the route descends to Vríčanské Saddle, from where you reach the village of Vrícko. The descent is somewhat easier than the climb but still requires attention and skill, as the path is not maintained.
From Vrícko, the route continues with a gentle descent to Kláštor pod Znievom. In the village, you can visit the Gardeon Bench or the famous Hôrdačka. The cycling trail then continues through Slovianska dolina, returning back to the Woodpark chalets.
